Long trip (left home 7:15 am - returned 12:15 am). Hot & Mumid. Easy start then tough climb to tower. Black flies. Nice views and breeze in tower. Easy - Moderate Loop Southern corner of p-lot to #2. At 4 way intersection at top of hill, turn right onto #3 to Ice House. Left on gravel road and left again onto trail #4. Right on gravel road past carriage house & on to main house. Go between house and Hudson across grass to trail #5. Around to #6 along Hudson and back to lot via gravel road. HPBM This little trail had a lot going for it. Some ups and downs, narrow and wide trails, a stream crossing and a narrow path along a swamp/pond. Old and new structures and a beautiful return route along the Hudson with great views to the west. •••• Photos

Moderate - Difficult Out & Back From Flagstaff, go N on US 180 to mile marker 230 (9 miles). Turn left (W) on FR 245 and follow it 3.6 miles to its intersection with FR 171. Turn left (S) on FR 171 and go 1.0 miles to FR 171B. Follow this .25 miles until its end. The cave entrance is 300 yards east of the end of the road. Hike with Lott group led by Carolyn Decker. Easy Out & Back 180 North from Flagstaff to mile marker 247. Left and then .3 miles on dirt rd. to trailhead. Easy trail to follow (signs). Day started out a little cloudy and then cleared to an amazing day. Hike was uneventful until I got to the lava flow and Red Mt..  Wow. Amazing. Wish I was a Geologist. Moderate Out & Back 14.2 miles south on 89A (from 17) to big lot on right. Fee. I parked 0.2 miles north on side of road as lot was full. Very busy place. Lots of people to start. Sign @ start asked to leave special Garter snake alone. Turned to start hike and had one cross the trail in front of me.  About 2.5 miles in the people lessoned. Very tranquil near water and cliffs. Trail is easy to find at first, gets tricky in the middle and then easier as it narrows. 5th and final hike on AZ-LV vacation.  Hot day but canyon was cool.  Last bit was challenging with rock/boulder scrambles.  Not too many people.
